Carl Barker

Carl L. Barker, 89, of Monett, MO, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Carl was born on April 22, 1937, in McDougal, AR, the son of the late Paul and Ruby (Warbritten) Barker. He attended school in Arkansas and St. Louis, MO. Carl was raised on a farm where he picked cotton. He raised his family in St. Louis, where he was employed as a supervisor with Alvey Conveyors for forty years. He moved to Cassville in 1982 where he opened Alvey Conveyor. He later worked for Barry County Assessor Office as a field representative for ten years. Carl was a member of New Site Baptist Church.

On December 2, 1954, Carl and Shirley Battle were united in marriage. To this union, five children were born. Carl married Mary Jane Hudson in 1987. Carl married Mary Ruth Lowery in 2008, they enjoyed eighteen years together, often wintering in Texas.

Carl is survived by his wife Mary Ruth of the home; four daughters, Sue Barker, Sharon and Bill Knapp, Debbie and Bill Daniels and Samantha and Dean Chappel; one son, Larry and Lori Barker; three step-children, Larry and Sherry Lowery, Lonnie and Teresa Lowery and Kenny Lowery; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie and Linda Barker and Curtis Barker and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Shirley and Mary Jane; and one brother, Roger Barker.

Funeral service for Carl will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett. Reverend Garrett Maxey and Reverend Aaron Weibel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been requested to the New Site Youth Group. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
