(From White Funeral Home)Julius “Bill” Garcia Jr., age 81, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
Bill was born on December 15, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Julius and Juanita (Fernandez) Garcia.
On December 11, 1959, Bill was united in marriage to Kathy Gotsh in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Prior to her passing, Bill and Kathy enjoyed spending time together, especially attending bingo at the American Legion. They found joy in each other’s company and treasured the simple moments they shared. Bill also had a fondness for shopping and was always eager to find a good bargain
A proud veteran, Bill honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to serving others as a police officer for St. Louis County, where he dedicated many years to protecting his community. His strong sense of duty, integrity, and compassion were evident throughout his life.
Bill was a faithful member of Lakeside Christian Church in Shell Knob, Missouri. His faith was an important part of who he was and guided him throughout his life.
He was also a devoted member of Central Crossing Masonic Lodge #674 and the Shell Knob Shrine Club. The friendships, fellowship, and opportunities to serve others through these organizations meant a great deal to him.
Those who knew Bill will remember his kind heart, his dedication to serving others, and the love he had for his family and friends. His legacy of service, faith, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Bill is survived by one son, Julius Garcia III of Greenville, Tennessee; one daughter, Kathy Bernsen of Shell Knob, Missouri; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother Jim Garcia of St. Louis.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kathy Garcia; and his parents.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in St. Louis and entrusted to White Funeral Home and Crematory.
Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri.
