Elizabeth “Betty” Filarski age 79 of Joplin, MO passed away Tuesday October 21, 2014 at the National Healthcare Nursing home in Joplin, MO.
She was born on March 13, 1935 in Wentworth, MO the daughter of Benedict and Clara “Sierawski’ Bishoff. Betty graduated from Joplin High School. She married Clemet Filarski on January 14, 1956 in Joplin, MO. Betty worked as a Cashier for Consumers Grocery store along with several other stores in the area. She loved Animals, enjoyed gardening and especially loved her grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Raymond Bischoff, two sisters: Margaret “Rose” Holland, and Harriet “Tink” Pearson; and a daughter in-law Cathy Filarski. Survivors include her husband Clem of the home, two sons Rick Filarski and wife Jackie of Joplin and David Filarski of Joplin a daughter Clara Williams of Georgia, seven grandchildren: Matt Williams, Tim Williams, Josh Williams, Justin Filarski, Kevin Filarski, Chris Filarski and Amy “Filarski” Modras; and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday October 24, 2014 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary with Reverend Jarel Burnside officiating. Burial will follow in the Diamond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the Mortuary. The family suggests contributions to the Elizabeth Filarski Memorial Fund in care of the Mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
