Danny Ray Howell, age 52, Joplin, passed away at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his home after a long illness.
Danny was born February 2, 1962 in Joplin, Missouri. He had lived in Joplin for the past several years, moving from Hollister, Missouri.
Danny worked in Production for Eagle Picher Industries and as a detail man for the former Gus Shaffar Ford Dealership in Joplin. He moved to Hollister and worked several years for Silver Dollar City in food service and had also worked for the Gazebo Inn in the maintenance department. In his spare time, Danny spent his time fishing and enjoyed the outdoors.
Danny is survived by his mother and stepfather, who loved him like a son, Rowena and Stephen Drake, Hollister; his father, Warren F. Howell, Sr., Joplin; a daughter, Katie Swanson, New Mexico; one brother, Frank Howell and his wife, Cyndie, Carl Junction; one sister, Sherry Howell, Joplin; two step brothers, Nicholas Crim and his wife, Lisette, Holland, Robert Crim, Joplin; one step sister, Barbara Swanson and her husband, Brett, Lenexa, Kansas; four grandchildren and several other extended family members.
Danny was preceded in death by a son, Steve Howell and his step mother, who loved him like a son, Carol Howell.
Danny was loved by all of his family and will be missed very much.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with a visitation to follow. Brad Gadbury, Mark Blackburn and Ron Thomas will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of Parker Mortuary.
