William Lee ‘Bill’ Allison, age 78, Joplin, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Mercy Hospital following a long respiratory illness.
Bill was born September 30, 1936 in Thorny, Arkansas to the late Olin Allison and Ida McAlhaney Allison and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
He worked for Eagle Picher Industries for 44 years, retiring in 1999 as a supervisor in the Thermal Coupling Division. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bill married Mary Lou Gooch on July 6, 1964 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include his son, Darrell Allison and his wife, Brenda, Joplin; two daughters, Carol Cupp and her husband, Steve, Diamond, Brenda Carey and her husband, Brian, Carl Junction; ten grandchildren, Jarad, Brice, Dylan and Tyler Allison, Courtney DeCarlo, Ethan and Amanda Cupp, Whitney Carey, Matthew and Kaylee Reynolds; four great grandchildren, Caden and Laikyn DeCarlo, Avalee and Brayden Allison and one sister-in-law, June Allison, Arkansas.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn and Clyde Allison and three sisters, Lois Demery, Leta Atha and June Eubanks.
Services are planned for Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. T.J. Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jarad Allison, Dylan Allison, Brice Allison, Steve Cupp, Brian Carey and Martin DeCarlo. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Elk’s Lodge #501 Christmas Basket Program, in care of Parker Mortuary.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital for the care that they gave Bill.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
