Josephine Maples, age 91,of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 1:28 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin following a sudden illness. Josephine was born October 10, 1922 in New York, New York. She moved to Joplin in November, 2008. Josephine was an artist, and enjoyed painting sceneries. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Josephine was married to Robert H. Maples, U.S. Navy Retired, on January 1, 1944 in New York, New York. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2011. Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Maples and wife Sherley, Joplin, and Glenn A. Maples and wife Constance, Tuscon, Arizona, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Mo. Veterans Cemetery in Springfield with Rev. Justin Monaghan officiating. A Prayer Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorial Contributions are requested to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo..
