George Edgar Ralston, 64, passed away after his courageous battle with cancer on October 15 at his home surrounded by loving family and friends.
He was born February 23, 1950 to Lester and Evelyn Ralston in Carthage, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
George served with the U.S. Army in the 809th Engineer Battalion from 1968 to 1971 in Southeast Asia and Germany. Most recently attending Peace Lutheran Church, he was a faithful Christian who was committed to serving at church, and participated in many church activities. He enjoyed many family fishing and camping trips, going to Silver Dollar City, Boy Scout activities with his son, Church Campfire Worship, watching football with his father-in-law and having coffee with his friend Stan.
He was employed at Mercy Hospital for the last 18 years and spent the last several years as a courier for the Infusion Center. He was known for his kindness with the patients.
George is survived by his wife, Vicky Putnam Ralston. They were married at Blendville Christian Church, June 12, 1982. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy Faulkner and husband Christopher; granddaughter, Alanna; father-in-law and mother-In-law, Ray and Mary Putnam, all of Joplin. He is also survived by his son, Andrew Ralston, and wife Hannah of Tulsa, OK.
Additionally, he is survived by two brothers: Raymond Ralston (Helen) of Carthage, MO, Eugene Ralston, Joplin, MO, and three sisters, Betty Smith (Dale), Carthage, MO, Reba Replogle (Glenn) of Avilla, MO and Shirley Phillips (Arthur) of Ephrata, WA and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are being provided by Parker Mortuary of Joplin. Visitation will be Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 6-7:00 P.M. at Parker Mortuary and Funeral Service will be at Blendville Christian Church Sunday, October 19, at 3:00 P.M..
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Employee Crisis Fund or Peace Lutheran Church of Joplin.
