Terri Sutton Barkau, age 71, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2014, following an illness.
Terri was born on October 21, 1943, in Fort Dix, N.J., the daughter of the late Col. Francis N. Sutton and Alyss (Greer) Sutton. She graduated from Fullerton Junior College. She worked as a key punch operator for Armco Steel Company.
She married Bill Mobley in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 2004. She married Melvin Barkau in 1986 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Terri lived most her life in southern California and Arizona, moving to Missouri in 2002 to be near her son. Terri was active in many organizations and especially enjoyed volunteering for Relay for life and the freeman advantage group. She was a member of the South Joplin Christian Church. She is survived by one son, Mark Mobley and his wife Mary, Joplin; her partner and dear friend, Jim Kelley, Joplin; three step-children; and ten step-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Terri’s life will be held on November 16th at 2:00 p.m. at her home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a contribution be made to the American Cancer Society in her honor
