Michael J. Breneman, 37, of Asbury, MO, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014.
He was born May 29, 1977, at Ft. Benning, GA, the son of Steven and Joan (Cremer) Breneman. Michael served in the United States Army where he received two achievement medals.
On October 23, 2009, he was united in marriage to Catherine A. Kandlik at Topeka, KS. She survives of the home. Michael worked as an Energy Management Specialist for Pittsburg State University. Membership was held in Detachment 2, 346th MP Company at Ft. Riley, KS, and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Washburn University, Topeka, KS. Michael was an avid scuba diver. He also loved to cook and entertain, travel and sing. He knew no stranger.
In addition to his wife, Cate, he is survived by his parents, Steven and Joan Breneman of Bonner Springs, KS, one brother, Jim Breneman of Jeffersonville, IN, and paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Crooks of Chico, CA. He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jack and Janet Cremer and paternal grandfather, Joseph Breneman.
A service for Michael is set for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014, at the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg, where the Ft. Riley Funeral Detail will provide the flag folding ceremony. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
