L. Wayne Sanders 80,of Carthage, passed away October 29, 2014.
Wayne was born May 28, 1934 in Reeds, Missouri to Bethual Zedoc Sanders and Sarah Elizabeth (Smith) Sanders. Wayne started working at the age of 16 for local farmers, at age 18 for Yukes Tire, Carthage Marble, MoKan concrete and Faubion Tank Company for 10 years; Wayne owned and operated Wayne’s Place. He was a crossing guard for the R-9 school district for 10 years. Wayne attended several county schools in the Reeds and Carthage area. Wayne was a hard working good ole’ boy that loved his children.
Wayne was united in marriage to Patricia Joann Barker June 23, 1972 in Carthage, MO, she preceded him in death in 2004. Wayne is survived by two daughters Sandy Coffman of Carthage and Crystal Pettengill of Carthage, one step-daughter Nancy Wiles of Webb City, two sons Rocky Sanders of Mt Burg, Arkansas, Jim Sanders of Carterville and two step-sons Billy Bayless Jr. and Tom Bayless both of Carthage. 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, four brothers Herman (Doc) Sanders of Joplin, Clifford Sanders of Kansas City, MO, Ronald (Cotton) Sanders of Carthage, Alvin (Dutch) Sanders of Kansas City, MO. Wayne is preceded by his parents, his wife, two sons Tim Sanders and Johnny Sanders, two sisters Juanita Stewart and Alene (Pete) Franklin.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 1, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Park Cemetery Carthage, MO. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
