Bonita ‘Bonnie’ M. Derryberry, 76, Neosho, died Oct. 5, 2014 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, following an illness since December, 2013.
Bonnie was born March 18, 1938 in Burlington, Kansas and moved to the Neosho are August, 1973 from Wichita, Kansas. She was an elementary teacher and retired from the East Newton School District in May, 1997. Bonnie was active in the Newcomer’s Club, Neosho Area Widow to Widow, Friends of the Library and the Newton County Senior Citizens, she was heavily involved in the Neosho Wildcat X-Treme Wrestling Club and was the recipient of the Neosho Exchange Club Golden Deeds Award. She was a member of the Hilldale Baptist Church.
Bonnie married John William Derryberry in 1964 and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2002. She is survived by two sons, Manuel A. Derryberry and wife, Tracey, Neosho and Jose Luis Derryberry, Columbia, MO; seven grandchildren, Jonathon J. Derryberry and wife, Courtney, Neosho; Christopher L. Derryberry, Detroit, MI; Cody J. Derryberry, OK City, OK; Shayale M. Derryberry, Neosho; Charlene S. Bond, Stella; Brooklyn M. Derryberry, Neosho and Addison M. Derryberry, Neosho and three great grandchildren.
