Emma Jean Blankinship, 81, passed away Sunday October 12, 2014 in Joplin, MO.
Emma was born January 4, 1933 in Haleyville, Alabama to Willie Walker Mays and Auntie Mae (Chastain) Mays. Emma was a resident of the Monett area from the past 15 years moving here from Bellevue, Nebraska. Emma retired from Woolworth’s after 30 years of employment. She was a member of the Monett Church of Christ.
Emma was united in marriage to Conliff Calvin Blankinship February 12, 1951 in Canalou, MO he passed June 30, 2003. Emma is survived by one daughter Sharon Trumbly and husband Ernie of Joplin, MO and one son Jerry Blankinship and wife Lou Ellen of Carthage, MO, three grandchildren Brian, Jennifer and Jeannine, four great grandchildren Emma, Addyson, Adalyn and Olivia. Emma is preceded by her parents, husband, one sister Ann Leatherwood and one brother Earlie Mays.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday October 17, 2014 at The Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Contributions can be made to the Fairhaven Children’s Home in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
