William “Bill” L. Clements, age 67, of Lamar, MO passed Thursday morning at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, MO.
Bill was born July 8, 1946 to Ted Richard Clements and Ruby Thelma (Little) Clements at Lamar, MO. He graduated Lamar High School in 1966. He served his country in the US Army and was in Vietnam from July 1967 until July 1968. On July 1, 1967 he married Sue Jeffreys in Lamar, MO and together they raised two daughters. Bill retired from Thorco Industries where he worked as a supervisor. He was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church; member of the Firefighters Association of MO since 1978; member of Ozark Fire Chief’s Association as a charter member since 1983; Lamar Fire Department for 43 years and served as Assistant Fire Chief for over 30 years. Bill was also a member of Elks Club, enjoyed woodworking, fishing, socializing, playing pitch and “tinkering”.
Bill leaves behind his wife of nearly 47 years, two daughters and their husbands, Michelle & Chris Ferguson, of Joplin, MO and Carla and Scott Shapley, of Bentonville, AR; two brothers, Don Clements, of Lamar, MO and Loyd & Beverly Clements, of Lamar, MO; one sister, Thelma and Don Selvey, of Lamar, MO; one sister in law, Dixie Clements of Lamar, MO; and three grandchildren, Samantha Ferguson, Nichole Tate, and Taylor Shapley.
Funeral service was held Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Robb Hodson officiating. Burial followed at Lake Cemetery with Military Honors.
