George Waldo Campbell, age 75, of Joplin, Mo. passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin.
George was born October 31, 1938 to the late George W. and Margaret Campbell in Webb City, Mo. At the age of 4, George was taken in and raised by the late Fannie Campbell. He was a pipefitter for Pipeliners Union Local 798 of Tulsa, OK. George also worked for Missouri Steel and Bolivar Insulation during the times when work was slow with the Union.
On August 17, 1962, George married the love of his life, Norma McClanahan in Joplin, Mo. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Tricia Fohey and husband Cliff of Joplin; two grandsons, Matt Fohey and wife Staci of Joplin, Austin Fohey and wife Brandy of Joplin; great-grandchildren, Addi, Jaiden, Mason, Jordan, Keegan and one on the way, Hazley; siblings Linda, Jimmy and Bobby; many nieces and nephews as well as special relationships with his brother and sister in-laws. He was dearly loved by his coffee buddies at Mary-Lee's Cafe'.
George is preceded in death by one sister, Alma Carlene.
Memorial service is planned for Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 5:00 PM at Central Christian Center, Joplin. Visitation will start at 4:00 PM up to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Central Christian Friday Night Church in care of the mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
