Mamie (Miss M) Theus Creighton, age 104 of Joplin, joined her loved ones in Heaven at 12:47 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at her home.
Born September 19, 1909 in Ringgold, LA, she was the daughter of the late Will Theus and Georgia Douglas Theus and was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. She had lived in Joplin since 1937 and had worked as a domestic in private homes. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Her husband, Albert Creighton, preceded her in death on March 22, 1968. Also preceding her in death were a grandson, Tyrone Crayton; and two granddaughters, Amber and Markita McGee.
Survivors include three sons, Lara Cration, Oatis Crayton and Freddie Crayton, all of Joplin; 12 grandchildren, Sherilynn McGee, Vincent McGee, Tonya Robinson, Brian Gamble, Daniel Samuel, Jakita Reno, Otis A. Crayton, Mamie A. Crayton, Shawna Crayton, Kizzie S. White, Kathy Thomas and Albert McGee; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews, Mattie Washington, Louise Rambo, Georgia Faye Evans, Athalean Scott, Bonita Reliford, Dean Wyatt and Eddie Brackens; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Willie E. Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park with J.L. Love, Timmy Wells, Gene and Stevie Rambo, Daniel Samuels, Otis Crayton and Vincent McGee serving as pallbearers. J.D. Love, Arthur Washington and Macarthur Derrick will be honorary pallbearers.
