Wanda Lou Gooch, age 83, Joplin, passed away at 7:13 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital.
Wanda was born March 7, 1931 in Joplin to the late Chester C. Smith and Neva May Paullas Smith and had lived in Joplin all of her life.
She worked for the former Haynes Rexall Drug Store and retired from the Tri-County Cerebral Palsy Crib Home after 25 years of service. She was a Catholic and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Clennis L. Gooch; three brothers, George ‘J.D.’ Smith, Carl Smith, Bobby Gatewood; and a great granddaughter, Triston Linehan.
Survivors include three children, Gary Moon and his wife, Brenda, Neosho, Barbara Sheridan and her husband, Larry, Joplin, Randy Gooch and his wife, Patti, Neosho; a sister, Barbara Hunt, Webb City; one brother, Richard M. Smith and his wife, Linda, Joplin; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services are planned for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary. Scott Pogue will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Dickson, Shannon Moon, Austin Moon, Robin Rager, Larry Sheridan, Kevin Moon, Mike Smith, Sr., and Mike Smith, Jr. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
