Thomas Leroy Allgood, 91 formerly of Joplin, Mo., went to be with the Lord at 4:48 A.M. Friday, June 20, 2014 at his home in Harrah, Oklahoma.
Mr. Allgood was born in Joplin, Mo. on March 13, 1923 and was one of 13 children borm to Thomas Scott Allgood and Tencil Violet Allgood. He was married to Delora Joann Severs, March 20, 1944, who preceded him in passing on July 15, 2003 after 59 years of marriage. The couple had two daughters, the eldest daughter, Patricia Griffin, who preceded them in death and their daughter, Dianna Lord who currently resides in Harrah, Ok. Mr. Allgood is survived by his only remaining sisters, Colleen Black of Joplin, Mo. and Mary Lou Hudson of Joplin, Mo. and his only surviving brother Jack Allgood, Joplin, Mo.; four grandchildren, Brenda and Donna Griffin of Joplin, Mo., Stacy Lord-Campbell of Oklahoma City, Ok., and Michael Todd of Piedmont, Ok.; five great grandchildren; Nate Lord, Oklahoma City, Ok., Mick Lord, Oklahoma City, Ok., Josh Lord, Harrah, Ok., Blake Todd, Piedmont, Ok. and Kyleigh Todd, Piedmont, Ok. and the son he always wanted, his son in law. Mr. Allgood was a shop foreman at Yellow Freight in Baxter Springs, Ks. for 30 years, built several homes in the Greenwood community, just outside of Joplin and upon retiring, designed, built and operated Allgood Meat Processing for several years before selling it to move to Joplin. Tom will be greatly missed by his family and his little buddy Mickey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 24, at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel, Joplin, Mo., with John and Dianna Lord officiating. Burial will follow at the Osborne Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
