Ronald D. Perkins, age 73, of Webb City, MO, went to be with the Lord Monday June 23, 2014 following a short illness.
He was born June 24, 1940 in Carthage, MO, to David and Virginia Butts Perkins. Ron was employed with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for thirty years. He was a field training manager and retired in 2010. He was also an instructor at the National Academy of Railroad Science at the Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, KS. Ron proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer.
Ron graduated from Mid America Nazarene College, Olathe, KS, with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He was also a graduate from Nazarene Bible College, Colorado Springs, CO. He was a member of the Webb City Nazarene Church where he was a men’s ministry leader and was involved in outreach ministry. He was a man of God and spent his life doing the Lord’s work.
He married Kathy Saia on February 14, 1987 in Albany, GA, she survives. He is also survived by one son, Jeffery Perkins, Omaha, NE; two daughters, Melissa McClaskey-Crane, Olathe, KS, and Heather Shaver, Tucker, GA; one brother, Jack Perkins, Carthage, MO; and two grandchildren, James Edward McClaskey III and Garrett Dean McClaskey.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday June 30, 2014 at the Webb City Nazarene Church, with Pastor Nathan Haeck and Mike Giesert, minister officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the church prior to service. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Nazarene Mission International in care of the funeral home.
