David Blankenship

David Harold Blankenship passed away in his home on June 12, 2014 in Carthage, Mo. at the age of 76.

He was a lifelong resident of Carthage. David was born at his parents' home on High Street in Carthage on April 17, 1938, to parents Leonard and Louise Blankenship. He attended Carthage High School. He married Joan Wilkerson on December 31, 1956. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; a brother, Leonard Blankenship; and a sister, Mary Lou Gipson.

 David was a proud member of the Carthage Police reserve and served on the Police Personnel Board. He owned and operated Dave’s Foreign Cars for over 40 years. He was an avid reader of his bible every night. He loved riding motorcycles across the country with his wife and watching western movies. David was a black belt instructor for several years. He also taught Sunday School at Kendricktown Methodist Church.

 David is survived by his wife of almost 58 years; three sons, Wyatt Blankenship, Lane Blankenship, and Scott Blankenship; two daughters, April Greathouse and Debbie Bane; two daughters-in-law, Jennifer Blankenship and Genie Blankenship; one son-in-law, Curtis Greathouse; one brother, Phillip Blankenship; one sister, Margaret Faucett; 15 grandchildren; Jana Smith, Chaunda Sarley, Russell Blankenship, Derek Blankenship, Alex Blankenship, JR Maggard, Tara Chittim, Dillon Blankenship, Madison Blankenship, Brook Hudgins, Matthew Tomiello, Ashley Arrowood, Jason Vineyard, Destinee Greathouse, and Teresa Lashmet; 26 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

 Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Kendricktown Methodist Church or the American Heart Association care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
