Theresa Gail Witt, age 65, of Carterville, Missouri, passed to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
She was born on November 2, 1948 in Lockwood, Missouri to James Lee and Kathryn Wilkinson Hyder. Theresa was raised in Carthage and graduated in 1966. She was a school bus driver for over 25 years with the Webb City School District. Theresa also helped teach children’s Sunday School for 20 years. Her love of life was her family. She also loved to travel and shop in flea markets. Her family knows her best as a giver, having a huge servant’s heart.
On December 31, 1971, Theresa married Jackie Leo Witt in Joplin. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Debra Sammons of Pittsburg, Kansas; Christine Covert and husband Jeff of Webb City; Jackie Ellis of Carterville; three sisters, Angela Smith and husband Steve of Columbia, Missouri; Joan Heniger and husband Jim of Arizona; Sharron Aubrey and husband Phil of Carthage; twin brother, Ted Hyder and wife Emma of Del Rio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and many extended friends and family.
Theresa is preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Jason Bohn Witt and one brother, Jim Hyder
Services are planned for Friday, June 27, 2014 at Duenweg Assembly of God Church at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at the Webb City Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 6-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to Duenweg Assembly of God in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
