Elizabeth E. Hafer, age 97, of Carl Junction, Mo., a longtime Canton, Ohio resident passed away at 8: 28 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2017 at the home of her son. Elizabeth was born March 21, 1920 in Dell Roy, Ohio. She moved to the Joplin, Missouri area 8 years ago from Johnson City, Tennessee to make her home with her son and daughter in law. She was a housewife and had worked as a caregiver in her own home. She was a member of the Park Plaza Christian Church in Joplin, Mo. and was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Canton.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hafer on October 10, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Hafer, twin sisters, Wanda Machioch and Donna Myers, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Survivors include four sons, Robert Jon Hafer and wife Barbara, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Thomas Hafer and wife Paula, Apopka, Florida, Jeffrey Hafer and wife Marilyn, Deerfield Beach Florida, and Greg Hafer and wife Deb, Carl Junction, Mo., two daughters, Cynthia Swanner and husband Jim, Jonesboro, Tennessee, and Barbara Strauch and husband Chuck, Newark, Ohio, one sister, Jane Harding-Dray, Canton, Ohio, 14 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Reed Funeral Home in Canton, Ohio with visitation to begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens in Canton. Local arrangements were entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
