H. Ped Read was born September 2, 1930 in Deport, Texas, the son of Howard Perry and Ruth (Boyd) Read. He entered into rest on August 16, 2017 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 14 days.
Ped owned and operated a plumbing contracting business. He enjoyed fishing, camping, lake activities and visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of the Deport Baptist Church.
Ped is survived by two daughters, Leslie Kirkpatrick and husband, Eddie of Seneca and Holly Halford and husband, Darrell; four grandchildren, Ashley Kilpatrick-Payne; Jessica Kilpatrick; Ethan Lee Halford and Lacy Halford; one sister, Sondra Adair and husband, Doyle of Deport, Texas; nephew, Barratt Adair and wife, Joy; niece, Kay Adair-Kiker and husband, Matt; great nephew, Adam Kiker and great niece, Holly Kiker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lee Balentine and son, Michael Read.
Services were held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Deport, Texas, with interment in the Highland Cemetery, Deport, Texas.
