Tammie Patterson

Tammie Sue Patterson, age 56 of Galena passed away at her home at 8:12 AM on August 12, 2017.

Tammie was born on January 19, 1961 in Coffeyville, KS to Bob Smith and Darlene Payton. She graduated from Ozark Christian Academy in Neosho, MO.

Tammie had lived all throughout the Midwest from Coffeyville, KS to Neosho, MO, and Columbus, KS to Donna, TX. She worked at the Honey Berry Plant, now Tyson Foods, as a Quality Control Inspector before moving to Texas in the late 1980’s. While in Texas, she was a missionary at an Orphanage as well as a school aide assisting handicapped children with their daily routines. She was a licensed minister through Church International, a Children’s Church Leader, helped organize school athletics while in Texas, and was faithful in ministering to shut-ins and nursing home residents. There was never a birthday, anniversary, or holiday that passed where her friends at the nursing home didn’t get a greeting card.

Tammie was married to Alvin S. Patterson in Neosho, MO on September 11, 1982. He was her partner in life and in ministry for nearly 35 years. He survives.

Additional survivors include her mother, Darlene Inman of Caney, KS; her biological father, Bob Smith of Cherryvale, KS; three brothers, Larry Countryman of Coffeyville, KS, John Lindsey (wife, Sheryl), and Allen Lindsey; three sisters, Kim Miseqades (husband, Mike) of Coffeyville, KS, Sheila Clapp (husband, Kevin), and Connie Crawley (husband, Bob); parents-in-law, Rev’s Alvin H.G. and Karen K. Patterson; brothers-in-law, Joseph Kellogg of Columbus, and John Timothy “Tim” Kellogg (wife, DeAnn) of Riverton; sisters-in-law, Julie Kellogg of Columbus, Vivian Kelly of Columbus, and Kathy Dukes of Carl Junction; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her adopted father, Floyd Inman; one brother, Kevin Inman; and one sister in law, Shirley Linn Patterson-Betts.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Galena Assembly of God. Pastor Doug Melugin will officiate. Burial will take place following the service at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 6-8:00 PM at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Galena Assembly of God Food Pantry.
