Gary V Blood, age 48, of Joplin, peacefully passed from this life on Monday, August 28, after a lifetime filled with love, laughter, adventure, too much cancer, and lots more love and laughter.
He was born on June 18, 1969, in Denver, Colorado.
Gary had a big love for his fellow mankind. He had an undying loyalty to his humongous circle of family and friends. He loved fiercely. Gary had an amazing sense of humor, and he knew it, as he would say himself, “I am the funniest person I know.” He exuded kindness, and found great joy in making the people around him happy, and laughing, and eating the amazing food he was almost world famous for preparing for them.
Gary was infinitely dedicated to his wife, best friend, and as he called her, “my whole world”, Jamie Farrill Blood. Together, they were quite the pair, both free spirits and proof that this life is to be shared with friends and enjoyed to the fullest. As social as the couple was, it was always obvious that they were each other’s favorite person.
Gary’s beautiful spirit will live on as he blessed the world with two sons, Bennett and Grayson, and taught them to be loving, funny, and big hearted. In return, his boys brought out the childlike and goofy side in Gary. He adored his children and said they were his greatest accomplishment.
He worked at Locke Supply in sales. He was an amazing chef who found great pleasure in cooking by turning food into art; he sprinkled love in every dish.
Additional loved ones include his father Valor Blood and wife Vikki Blood; siblings Jamie Largent, Jeremy and Marsha Blood, Ashlee and Josh Coate; Jordan and Jeff Lofting, Lynsey and Jed Skaggs; father and mother in- law, Buck and Vicki Farrill, in laws Ray and Kellee Uber and Blake Farrill and numerous aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, nephews, nieces and countless friends that were his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Teddy Gilmore and grandfather Martin Blood.
Gary provided a glowing example of how to live life: by loving fiercely, by staying positive, by understanding the power of a smile, by faith and discipleship in Jesus Christ, and by being a true friend. Family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary, Joplin 6-8pm Thursday. Funeral Services will be held at 10am Friday at Impact Life Church.
Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Garebear Boys Fund at SMB.
