Wayne E. House, Sr., age 74 of Neosho, entered into rest on August 7, 2017 at his home in Neosho, following a six month illness of cancer.
Wayne was born Nov. 10, 1942 in Neosho, the son of Cleo Lee House, Sr. and Faye L. (Large) House. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, serving three years of active duty in the Army in Germany and twenty four and half years as a Navy See Bees in Broken Arrow. Following his honorable discharge from the military, he owned and operated Wayne House Construction and Spee Dee Lube. He was a member of the Joplin Elks Club and the Neosho American Legion, Post 163. He loved to travel, especially going on cruises, hunting and fishing.
Wayne married Phyllis (George) Watt on April 3, 1981 in Joplin and she survives. Additional survivors include two children, Scott LeRoy House of Santa Cruz, CA and Randal Montgomery and wife, Whitney of Neosho; daughter in law, Tammy Dawn House of Joplin; four step children, Laura Braatz of Lake Geneva, WI; Kathryn Ellison of Neosho; John Christopher Ellison, State of Washington and Darren Matthew Ellison, State of Missouri and eight grandchildren. Wayne is preceded in death by a son, Wayne Eugene House, II on April 3, 2014; three brothers, Cleo House, Jr., Curtis House and Dennis House, Mother in Law, Estelle Watt and his parents, Cleo and Faye House.
Services will be Friday, August 11, 2017 at 2 pm at the Clark Funeral Chapel of Memories, Chaplain Jerald Bass will officiate. Interment and Full Military Honors will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery south of Neosho. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
