Melbourne E. (Mel) Marchbanks, 89, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest August 17, 2017 at Seneca House Nursing Home after a long illness.
Melbourne Euegene Marchbanks was born December 11, 1927 in Pacific Grove, CA the son of Ruel and Florence (Giles) Marchbanks. He served his country in the Navy of the United States. Mel worked at the former Foremost / McKeeson Plant in Joplin. He also had worked for Webb Transportation in Joplin and drove a School Bus for the Seneca R7 School District until retiring in 2010. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seneca.
Melbourne E. Marchbanks married Leona Hastert in Noel, MO and she survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Donna Creed, Oklahoma City, OK; one grand-daughter, Trena Durbin, Seneca; two step grandsons, Nathan Creed and Micah Creed.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Rick Marchbanks in 1994.
The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
