Hubert F. Meier, age 74, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 5:40 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at his home.
Hubert was born August 14, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. and had lived in Joplin the last 45 years. He was employed with the City of Joplin for 20 years in the Parks and Recreation Dept., retiring in 2003. He was of the Lutheran Faith. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Chapter T Gold Wing Club. Hubert enjoyed watching Nascar.
Hubert married Bernice Doguet June 8, 1979 in Miami, Ok. and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Michael Meier, Carl Junction, Mo., two daughters, Kelly Meier-Merrell and husband Michael, State of Ar., and Tonya Dye and husband Bruce, Joplin, two sisters, Loretta Reynolds and husband Lyle, and Saundra Reece and husband Junior, all of Cape Girardeau, Mo., five grandchildren; Austin and Shelby Messer, Amara Meier, and Parker and Preston Dye, and his best friend, Sugar.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Orlando Garcia officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the Mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to the Joplin Humane Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
