David J. “Cookie” Cook, Jr., 60, of Parsons, passed away at 9:44 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2020 at Labette Health in Parsons.
He was born on June 29, 1959 at Sand Springs, Oklahoma to David and Lois (Hallett) Cook, Sr. He grew up at Thayer and Parsons and attended Thayer and Parsons schools. He served in the United States Army for several years and then returned to Parsons upon his honorable discharge.
He obtained his CDL and worked as a truck driver for CFI Trucking in Joplin, Missouri. He then went to worked at O’Brien’s Ready Mix for 27 years serving as the Plant Manager.
Cookie loved his grandchildren and watching them do what they love. He also loved family gatherings, family cookouts, and singing karaoke. He also liked going to the casinos, playing cards with family, and video games with his wife. Taking care of his wife, Theresa, the love of his life was always his first priority.
He and Theresa Schoenhofer were married on December 31, 1980 at Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2016.
Cookie is survived by his children, Michelle Blaylock, and her husband, Paul Gosselin, Jr. of Kingsland, TX, Scottie Nichole Cook, and her husband, Ron Payne of Parsons, Sunshine Cook of Parsons, Tonya Cook of Springfield, MO, David Cook, and his wife, Chasity of Wichita, Terry cook of Tulsa, OK; his grandchildren, Octavian Cook, Jadyn Gosselin, Romeo Lazo, Isabella Cook, and Kirstin Carson; his brother, Scott Cook, and his wife, Pam of Joplin, MO; his sisters, Kathy Ball, and her husband, John of Parsons, Pam Reynolds, and her husband, Larry of Joplin, and Kim Waun, and her husband, Tom of Parsons; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Schoenhofer, and his parents.
Private graveside services will be held Friday, April 3, 2020 at South Mound Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Williams officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may come to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday to sign the register.
