Boyd Carter

Boyd J. Carter, age 95, Springfield, Missouri, passed away at 2:06 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Boyd was born February 21, 1925 in Carthage, Missouri to the late Allan J. Carter and Bessie Boyd Carter.

Boyd lived in Joplin most of his life, working as a sales manager for Goodyear for over 40 years. Boyd retired in 1990 as the assistant store manager with the Joplin Goodyear Store. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Webb City, where he served as deacon for forty years and taught Sunday School for many years in the Junior Department. Boyd also served as song leader for many revivals around Southwest Missouri. Boyd was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

He married Vivian Janice Riddle on October 4, 1947 in Carthage, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2009.








Survivors include a daughter, Donna Freeman and husband, Mike, Springfield, Missouri; a son, James F. Carter and wife, Marcy, Forest, Virginia; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several extended family members.

Visitation will be Sunday, Monday and Tuesday during normal working hours at Parker Mortuary.

Private family interment will be Wednesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date.
