Ernistine “Carter” Peterson, 90, of Joplin passed away at her home on Friday April 17, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Ernistine was born January 27, 1930 to Winston Carter and Beulah Brown in Carthage, MO. She spent 15 years in Kentucky and returned to the Carthage area in 1974. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Louisville KY.
Ernistine was a homemaker and Co-Owner of Peterson Construction. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. Ernistine was an avid Bridge Player, passionate about gardening, loved her church and enjoyed Aqua sizing class for excercise and socializing. She cherished her family, grandchildren and family get togethers.
Ernistine was united in marriage with John T. Peterson on September 4, 1949 in Carthage, MO. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2016.

Ernistine is survived by two sons; Bob Peterson of Joplin and Steve Peterson of Joplin, one daughter Kim (Anthony) Splitter of Joplin. One brother, Wayne Carter (Susie) Carter of Carthage and one sister Lorraine Knight of Carthage. Seven grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Holly, Jacob, Erin, Blake and Brandon and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter Carol Rodgers and one sister Jeanette Fullerton.
