George Cherry, 91 passed away April 13, 2020 at his home in Carthage, MO. George was born May 9, 1928 in Kendricktown, MO to Walter and Minnie “Simpson” Cherry.
George was a lifetime Carthage resident and worked for the Joplin Globe in the composing room floor for 30 years.
George was united in marriage to Barbara Dickson October 18, 1958 at Pleasant Hill Church near Carl Junction, MO. She survives.
George is survived by one daughter; Pattie Hastings (Kenny) of Mt.Vernon, two sons; Stan Cherry (Sharron) of Carthage and Jim Cherry (Debbie) of Nixa, MO, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
George is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Irene Huff and one brother Frank Cherry.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 18, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home.
A come and go visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to services to comply with the covid-19 mandates. Contributions can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in George’s memory. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
