John Richard Scott passed away at home in Seneca, with family by his side, on April 18, 2020 at the age of 81. John was born May 11, 1938 in Joplin, Missouri, one of three sons to John Willard and Ana Orlena (Hansford) Scott. Ana Orlena was raised by Albert and Florence Burkhart.
John was a life-long resident of Southwest Missouri, graduating from Seneca in 1956 and was baptized August 31, 1958 at Burkhart Church of Christ, Racine. His dedication and faithfulness can be seen thru his employment of over 30 years in engineering as a work order clerk at the Neosho New Mac Electric and a member and Congregational Teacher at Burkhart Church of Christ for 50 years.
John and Carol Ann (Owens) were married on October 8, 1960 and shared 9 years together before she preceded him in death on June 9, 1970.
John and Charlotte (McCain) were married December 20, 1974 and shared 34 years together before she preceded him in death on September 5, 2009.
He is survived by five children, Richard Lee and Giselle Scott, Seneca, MO, James David and Wanda Scott, Neosho, MO, Mark Alan and Arla Scott, Seneca, MO, Brian Daniel and Kirsten Scott, Neosho MO, Anna Beth and Chris Turney, Neosho, MO and a brother, Larry C. Scott, of Joplin MO, his grandchildren James and Heather Scott, Nathan and Crystal Scott, Alyssa Scott, Lydia Scott, Alex and Stephanna Scott, Zachary Scott, Marcus Scott, and Henrik Turney, and great-grandchildren, Bailee, Olivia, Rome and London.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roy Scott, and one sister, Baby Girl Scott. Graveside services for John will be at 1pm Thursday, April 23, 2020 at the Burkhart Cemetery at Racine, Missouri, officiating will be Don Pruitt.
The casket will be closed at the cemetery, but friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home Neosho for viewing and to sign the register on Tuesday from 9-5pm, Wednesday from 9-5pm or Thursday from 9-11am.
At John’s request, memorial contributions may be made to Faithful Friends Animal Advocates in memory of John and Charlotte and their furry friends: Taz, Cedar, and Sparky c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, Missouri 64850.
