Wanda JoAnne Striegel, age 84, Carl Junction, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Joplin Gardens.
JoAnne was born August 24, 1935 in Stringtown, Missouri, daughter of the late Fred G. Dixon and Jennie Caroline Baker Dixon. She attended Carl Junction Schools, and worked for years as a beautician in Joplin and Carl Junction. She loved singing, and was a member of the Sweet Adeline's since 1974. She also enjoyed singing in the choir at church, she was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Joplin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Striegel, who passed away on May 11, 2011, and a brother, Edward "Sonny" Dixon.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Allen Dowell of New Port Richie, Florida, Ronald Lee Dowell and wife Simone, and Dave Bird and wife Carol all of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Georgia Kinslow of Carl Junction, Nathan Dowell of Joplin, Jeremy Dowell, Amy Dowell Venette both of Hudson, Florida, Natalie Bird and Kristopher Bird both of Carl Junction; great-grandchildren, Francesca Mitchell and Annabelle Mitchell both of Carl Junction, Dexter Dowell of Joplin, and Makiah Newman of Leavenworth, Kansas; sister, Betty Nelle Worsham of Joplin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment of her ashes will be in Carl Junction Cemetery next to her husband, Joe.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
