Betty Dixon

Mrs. Betty Jo Dixon, 97, of Southwest City, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Wildwood Care Center in Joplin, Missouri after a short illness.

Betty entered this life on March 15, 1923 in Southwest City, Missouri to the late Cliff and Alma (Collingsworth) Miller. Betty lived most of her life in the Southwest City area. She worked as a restaurant owner in Southwest City and school cook for many years and was employed at CTS manufacturing which she retired from at the age of 86. She was also a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan.

 On August 15 1956 in Flagstaff, Arizona she was united in marriage to Joe Dixon. Betty was of the Baptist Faith.








Betty was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 1995 and a son John Wayne Bowzer in 2010 and her siblings Wanda Carpenter, Junior Miller and Bill Miller.

Betty is survived by a daughter; Carolyn Carter and husband Roy of Surfside, Texas, five grandchildren; Terry Thomas, Kam Carter, John Bower, Jr., Rick Bowzer and Scotty Bowzer, ten great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services for the immediate family are 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2020 at Southwest City Cemetery with Brother Rob Grimm officiating. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Southwest City Library. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
