Burnard "Burney" F. Massey, age 81 of Joplin, Mo. gained his angel wings surrounded by his loving family, at the home, on Sunday, April 12, 2020.
Burney was born November 17, 1938, the son of the late Bennie and Oliva Massey. He graduated from Joplin High School and Joplin Junior College. He retired as a Vice President for B.C. MacDonald & Company of 30 years.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the family farm.He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. He attended the Carl Junction Christian Church.
He married Phyllis Johnson on July 6, 1958 in Joplin, Mo and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Debbie Leggett-Koehler (Gerold); Brenda McWilliams (Elmer) and one son, Brian Massey (Kate):six grandchildren, Renee Leggett-Tidwell (Chris); Courtney Whitehead (Flint); Brad McWilliams (Katie); Benny McWilliams (Sarah); Myles Massey and Marlee Massey: 5 great grandchildren, Beau and Peyton Whitehead, Kinsley and Brody McWilliams; and Taegan McWilliams.
He was preceded in death, by his brother, Wilborn Massey and son-in-law, Tom Leggett.
Friends and family may come by Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 for viewing between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carl Junction FFA Alumni Scholarship.
