John Paul Jordan, 55, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Freeman Hospital following an illness.
John was born September 30, 1964, in Joplin, to Archie Jordan Sr. and Joyce Wirick. He was a 1983 graduate of Joplin High School and was crowned Mr. Eagle his senior year. John also played football and was nicknamed "Mad Dog", a name that stuck with him throughout his life. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. John also loved to play darts and pool and was a member of the Tri Area Dart League and TAP Pool League. He was a longtime employee of Feerick's Candy Store in Joplin and served in all capacities during his employment. John made cherished friendships with his colleagues and customers during his career there.
Family was most important to John. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. John was a father figure to many who called him "Dad", always loving those most important to him without boundaries, and he truly had a heart of gold. He will be missed beyond words.
On November 5, 2004, John was united in marriage to Holly Erwin and she survives.
He is also survived by four children, Zachary Erwin of Joplin, Kassandra Pearce (Mike) of Joplin, Angelica Sumners (John) of Joplin, and Ieane Jordan of Joplin; eight grandchildren; five siblings, Cindy Daggett (Kevin) of Joplin, Stella Kirkman (Richard) of South Bend, Indiana, Barbara Delhiem of Joplin, Orville Stubbs of Elkhart, Indiana, and Charles Jordan (Kevin Noble) of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy England; and a brother, Archie Leon II.
Viewing will take place from 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the chapel of Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Cremation will follow and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
John was a fantastic man, friend and just an all around good guy. He had his faults, like everyone else, but who cares. He will be missed by those of us who loved him.
