Mike Sweely

(From Lakin Funeral Home)

Michael Eugene Sweely, age 44, of Sarcoxie, MO passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at his home. He was born in Morrison, IL on Tuesday, January 2, 1979. He was the son of Michael Victor and Nancy (Young) Brennan. Mike was a 1999 graduate of Reeds Spring High School.

Mike was known for catching everyone off guard with his dry sense of humor. His dedication and commitment to his country while serving in the Air Force as a crew chief mechanic and staff sergeant was evident as he was held in high regards by his constituents. After retiring from the military, Mike continued working as a small motor mechanic at Power Sports in Mt. Vernon and later at Coast to Coast in Monett.

Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, as well as 4-wheeling and rock climbing his Bronco with friends. Growing up, he could often be found swimming in Grandpa's pool, canoeing, fishing, swimming in the lake, hanging out with friends, and going to Silver Dollar City. As an adult, Mike loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Arkansas Razorbacks. He also gave unsolicited advice to his nieces and nephews. Mike was very stubborn and set in his ways, but those he was close to knew they were loved!

Surviving are the following: his parents, Michael and Nancy Brennan; three sisters, Cheryl (Randy) Kristek of Monett, MO, Rhonda (Michael) Briscoe of Billings, MO, and Amanda Hill of Mt. Vernon, MO; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his biological father, Michael Sweely.

The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Burial, with Military Honors, will be announced soon.
