Patty VanHooser

(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)

Patty Jo VanHooser, of Dadeville, MO, departed this life surrounded by her daughters and family on September 5, 2024 at the age of 80. She was born on October 18, 1943 in Dade County, MO to Kyle and Thelma (Coffman) Witt. Patty was baptized on August 22, 1957 by Coy Porter.

Patty was united in marriage to Allan VanHooser on June 2, 1961 in the bride’s parents’ home by Brother Dennis Smith. They shared 62 wonderful years together.

The highlight of every week for Patty was having her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids around her table for Sunday dinner. Patty cooked approximately 2,200 Sunday meals for her family. This tradition helped create a strong family bond that will continue for generations to come. She spent many years milking cows and farming alongside her husband, Allan. No one could rake hay like Patty.

She enjoyed mowing her yard, gardening, fishing with Allan, and getting pedicures with the girls in her family. She also loved watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play sports, family gatherings at the cabin, and Christmas, which was her favorite time of year.

Patty was preceded in death by her father Kyle, mother Thelma, and husband Allan. Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl and husband Rod O’Connor of Arcola, Angela and husband Steven Shepard of Greenfield, Shelly and husband Clayton McMasters of Ash Grove; eleven grandchildren, Jarrod and wife Robyn, Jarromy and wife Kelly, Joshua and wife Cassie, Kinsey, Kylee and husband Kory, Taylor, Hayden and wife Baylee, Sarah and husband Michael, Travis, Grace and husband Chace, Teddy; nineteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Freeze, Debbie and husband Roger Holman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Bona Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
