(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Allen Sage, age 75, of Joplin peacefully passed from this life on Thursday March 26. Allen was born February 6, 1951 in the old Freeman hospital on 20th street to Louis Allen and Beverly Lorene Sage.
Allen met and married the love of his life, Christine Eidsvig. Allen’s first date with Chris was a high school dance on February 3, 1968 and there was no looking back. Chris and Allen got married on March 13, 1971 and recently celebrated 55 years of a beautiful life. To this union they were blessed with three children, David, Justin, and Jenny.
Allen graduated from Parkwood High School in 1969 and attended MSSU. He started his career in the grocery business in 1969 until 1979. He then went into sales with the company Ralston Purina for 13 years and later became a regional sales manager for Strongheart pet foods. Allen changed his sales career to television advertising in 1999, selling TV Advertising for Cable One. He excelled in this business and won the prestigious award of President’s club 9 times.
Allen was a strong man of faith; he loved and led his family well. He was an avid golfer, with a single digit handicap, recording several hole-in-ones and winning the City Championship. Allen had a love for music and dancing; his presence had a way of lighting up any room he walked into. Allen had a special way of making people feel seen and loved. He was honest, real, and the kind of person who made you feel important just by being yourself, you always knew where you stood with him. He took great pride in being a grandpa to his grandchildren. He believed in the hope and promise of the resurrection and looked forward to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sherry Sage George, and his son David Sage. He is survived by his son, Justin (Erin) Sage; his daughter, Jenny (Kevin) Parker; his brother, Les Sage; and his grandchildren, Ethan Sage, Marina Tallman, Mason Sage, Finn Sage, Kaden Parker, Paisley Parker, Scarlett Parker, and Violett Parker, Collin Schmitt, and Claire Schmitt.
The family will celebrate Allen’s life with family and friends Tuesday, March 31 at 12:30 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. A private family burial will follow at Osborne Cemetery.
