(From Fohn Funeral Home)Rebecca Ann “Becky” Henningson, age 79, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, surrounded by her family at Lakewood Memory Care in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born October 5, 1946, in Cassville, Missouri, the daughter of Norman and Shirley (Farwell) Chaney, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Clay Chaney.
On December 27, 1969, in Cassville, she was united in marriage to Marvin Peter “Butch” Henningson Jr., who survives. Additional survivors include her daughters, Jennifer Epperly and her husband Kelley of Springfield, Missouri, and Andrea Sarratt and her husband David of Rogers, Arkansas; her brother, Gary Chaney and his wife Becky of Wesley, Arkansas; her sisters, Lindy Gibson and her husband Mike of Cassville, Missouri, and Cindy Ledgerwood and her husband S.T. of Rogers, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Cody, Kameron, Shelby, Noah, Case, and Nyls; along with several nieces and nephews.
Becky grew up in Cassville and graduated from Cassville High School in 1964. Following high school, she moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she attended the University of Arkansas and earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. She began her teaching career at Southwest School District in Washburn, Missouri, where she served as a physical education teacher and coach for two years. She later joined the Cassville School District as a physical education teacher and coach, where she dedicated 27 years to education before her retirement. After retirement, she continued her dedication to Cassville Schools by serving on the school board. She was known as a friendly and encouraging presence to her students, and she took great pride in helping young people grow through both school and sports.

Becky had a deep love for golf and competed in several tournaments and was the ladies club champion multiple times at Cassville Golf Club. She never met a stranger and loved visiting with others no matter where she traveled. She was an avid fan of women’s basketball and especially loved cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found joy in staying connected with family, friends, and her community. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren and had a profound love for the Cassville community and its schools. Becky was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cassville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the United Methodist Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Jeff Fugitt and Pastor Jeffrey Gibson will conduct the services. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the United Methodist Church in Cassville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the Coach Becky Henningson Memorial Scholarship or Cassville United Methodist Youth Group in memory of Becky.
