(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Charlene Kyser, age 65 of Carl Junction, passed away at 9:41 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 following an illness.
Charlene was born in Muskogee, OK on October 28, 1960 to the union of Charles and Lorena (Hartje) Hunter. She graduated from Seneca (MO) High School, and later graduated with an Associates Degree from Ozark Bible College. She had lived in Carl Junction, MO for the past 32 years.
She worked as a Optometric Technician before her retirement. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, as well as baking, gardening, and attending Central City Christian Church. Her greatest joy of all was caring for her grandbabies.
She was united in marriage with Vincent Kyser on July 2, 1988 in Independence, KS. He survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Aaron Kyser (wife, Kristina) of Redings Mill, MO; two daughters, Hiliary Smith (husband, Greg) of Galena, KS, and Lydia Morey (husband, Jacob) of Webb City, MO; six grandchildren, Kalleigh, Hero, Aaron Jr., Hadleigh, Magnolia, and Lilly; one sister, Florena Brodman of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lorena Hunter; one sister, Diana Pirkey.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Central City Christian Church. Pastor Dan Toney will officiate. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery of Joplin.
