Cheryl McQuillen

Cheryl Ann (Scott) McQuillen, age 68 of Galena, passed away at 6:06 PM Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility, rural Baxter Springs, KS.

Cheryl was born in Joplin, MO on May 23, 1957 to the union of Billy G. Scott and Lucille M. (Mark) Scott. She spent her childhood years living in Lowell, but has been a resident of Galena for several decades.








She worked as a CNA at Barker Rest Home until its closure, and later worked for Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She always loved being outdoors, especially any opportunity to spend time in a swimming pool. Her home was filled with antiques and other collectibles including her doll collection, and she could often be found watching The Andy Griffith Show. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to Eureka Springs, AR, and spoiling her grandkids.

Cheryl was united in marriage with Steven Ray McQuillen on June 10, 1991 in Miami, OK. He survives.








Additional survivors include three daughters, Heather Gooch (boyfriend, Brad Watkins) of Osage Beach, MO, Amanda Musgrave of Galena, and Tara McQuillen of Joplin; one son, Brandon Bond (girlfriend, Chelsea) of Joplin; one sister, Gwenda Ferneau of Riverton; one brother, Mark Scott (wife, Penny) of Joplin; 12 grandchildren, Ashley Long (husband, Javelin), Krystal Truster, Hailey Harper (husband, Zack), Lilly Lett, Chloe Howard (husband, Alex), Elyjah Musgrave, Willow Musgrave, Kyleigh King, Keegan Wittenmyer, Dylan Bond, Katiana Bond, Jackson Bond; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lucille Scott; one sister, Kathy Huffman; one great-grandson, Jeremiah Truster, one nephew, Jesse Shaffer, and her mother and father in law, Cliff and Betty McQuillen.

Mrs. McQuillen has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will host a private celebration of life. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com
