R. G. Edmondson

(From White Funeral Home)

R.G. Edmondson, age 92, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the sale barn fittingly doing what he loved most, buying cattle in Wheaton alongside his son, Roy Frank.
R.G. was born on February 17, 1934, in Cassville, Missouri, to Roy Georgia and Jewell (McCarter) Edmondson.

A lifelong resident of the community he cherished, R.G. embodied the values of hard work, integrity, and dedication from an early age. He was proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 76 of the Boy Scouts of America, an accomplishment that reflected his character and commitment to service. He graduated from Cassville High School in 1952 and went on to attend the University of Arkansas, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Husbandry in 1956.

Following his education, R.G. honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. During his time in service, he was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in El Paso, Texas, and later in Frankfurt, Germany, experiences that broadened his perspective while strengthening his lifelong sense of duty.

On November 4, 1959, R.G. was united in marriage to Mary Louise Curbo. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, love, and unwavering devotion to family. Their years together were a testament to partnership, perseverance, and shared purpose.

R.G. was a devoted member of the Methodist Church in Cassville and a longtime, active member of Rotary International in Cassville, beginning in 1958. His commitment to both his faith and his community was evident in the way he lived his life with generosity, humility, and a willingness to lend a helping hand.

A well-known and highly respected cattleman, R.G. dedicated his life to agriculture and the livestock industry. His knowledge, instinct, and tireless work ethic earned him a reputation that extended far beyond Barry County. From 1971 to 1985, he partnered with Gary Keen at the local sale barn in Cassville, where together they operated what became the largest hog auction in the area, often selling more than 2,000 pigs each Saturday.

Prior to that, he worked at a sale barn in Harrison, Arkansas, for Worth Keen, gaining valuable experience that would shape his lifelong career. R.G. was always striving to improve his herds. He was also the proud owner of two Missouri Century Farms in Barry County, a distinction that reflected generations of stewardship and dedication to the land.

Beyond his work, R.G. found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper who treasured time spent in nature. He traveled to Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho for hunting trips, and looked forward to pheasant hunting in Nebraska, often renting a home for extended stays.

Closer to home, he enjoyed floating the beautiful rivers of southwest Missouri, especially the Kings River. He also spent many seasons quail and turkey hunting throughout northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri. These moments brought him peace and fulfillment and were often shared with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

R.G. will be remembered as a man of deep character hardworking, knowledgeable, and steadfast in all he did. More than anything, he was devoted to his family, his land, and the way of life he so passionately believed in. His legacy is one of quiet strength, enduring values, and a life well lived, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
