(From Parker Mortuary)James Beck, a cherished father, skilled machinist, and lover of the great outdoors, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Republic, MO, at the age of 90. Born on March 9, 1936, in Cross Timbers, MO, James lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.
James spent his professional life in the trucking industry, where he applied his considerable skills as a machinist. His work was not just a job but a testament to his intelligence and his ability to solve complex problems with his hands. His colleagues respected him for his expertise and his unwavering commitment to quality.
Outside of work, James was an avid bird hunter, a pastime that spoke to his love for nature and the tranquility of the outdoors. His love for tinkering was well-known; he could often be found in his workshop, fixing things that others would simply replace. His family and friends always marveled at how he could hear a squeak that no one else could and proceeded to fix the squeak.
James's had a unique ability to understand how things worked and an even more remarkable ability to impart that understanding to others. His children, Deborah McComb and her husband Huston, Joel Beck and his wife Amy, Jason Beck and his wife Tracy, and Carrie Key and her husband James, all carry with them the lessons and skills their father taught them, both in life and in the maintenance of a happy home.
James's legacy is not only in the machines he fixed or the projects he completed but also instilled upon his 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was a man who knew the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the simple joys of life. His children, who have followed in his footsteps in their own ways, will continue to honor his memory by living out the values he instilled in them.
