Patrick Goist

Carl "Patrick" Goist, Jr., age 53, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Mt Vernon, MO. He was born in St. Charles, MO on Friday, January 12, 1973; son of Carl Patrick Goist, Sr. and Patricia (Proffitt) Goist. 

Patrick was a 1991 graduate of Independence High School in Kansas and attended Arkansas State University. Patrick's passion for life was boundless. From music to sports, he poured his heart and soul into everything he loved. He was an extraordinary athlete, holding records that still stand today, a true testament to his talent and dedication. But beyond his accomplishments, it was Patrick's spirit that touched the most lives. 

His faith was unshakable, his devotion to family unwavering. Every moment spent with him was a gift—his smile could brighten the darkest day, and his laughter had a way of wrapping everyone around him in joy. Patrick was deeply loved by so many. Though his earthly journey has ended, his light and his beautiful soul live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy will forever be carried forward through the lives he touched.

Surviving are his father, Carl Patrick Goist, Sr.; a brother, Eric Goist of Miller, MO; two sisters, Rachel Williams of Hoover, AL and Leah Goist of Birmingham AL; and seven nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Goist and a sister, Jessica Goist.

There will be an open casket from 12:30 PM until service time at Isenberg Cemetery in Gamaliel, KY (Monroe County) on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Graveside service will begin at 1:00 PM with Mike Proffitt officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
