Betty Coan

Betty Ann Coan, age 97, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home. Betty was born November 25, 1926, to Lewis and Edith (McPeak) Livingston. Betty attended Joplin Schools, graduating in 1944 from Joplin High School.

Following graduation, Betty worked as a secretary for Joplin Supply as well as the Civil Service at Camp Crowder during WWII. After completing a year at Joplin Junior College, Betty worked 10 years for the DuPont Company in Joplin, Tulsa, and Kansas City. Upon returning to Joplin, Betty worked for various manufacturing companies. She enjoyed being able to travel extensively, the highlight of which was a 3-week excursion the summer of 1955, traveling on the Queen Mary to Erie, England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France.








Betty met the handsome Robert Coan and they were married on June 5, 1966 at Betty's lifelong church, South Joplin Christian Church. Bob preceded her in death on September 7, 2006.

Betty enjoyed attending numerous community activities, being a member of the "Lunch Bunch" with her church, and was extremely active with Club 44, which allowed her to enjoy the company of her high school classmates from JHS 1944.

Betty was pre-deceased by her husband, Bob, her parents, and her beloved sister, Mary Livingston.








Betty is survived by her church family at South Joplin Christian Church and a wide circle of friends she has made over the years.

Funeral services are planned for Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Sojourners Christian Church in Joplin. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, in Joplin.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
