(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Roger William Fleming, born on July 23, 1945, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and steadfast Catholic, Roger lived a life full of love and faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Wayne and Josephine Marie (Fortune) Fleming. He cherished his wife, Leta Jean “Jeanie”, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage lasting 56 years. Together, they raised two children, Ryan (Abigail) Fleming (Leawood, KS) and Kristen (Brett) Hergenrother (Lees Summit, MO), who were a source of immense pride and joy.
Roger’s legacy continues through his six beloved grandchildren: Nathan, Kathryn, William, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Jack, all of whom brought light and laughter into his life. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Peggy) Fleming (Weir, KS) and his sister, Paula (Lorey) Caldwell (Canfield, OH).
He graduated from St. Mary’s-Colgan High School in 1963 and Pittsburg State in 1967. In his professional life, Roger served as the District Right-of-Way Manager for the Missouri Department of Transportation. He was passionate about coaching, leading Ryan’s soccer team with dedication and enthusiasm. An athlete himself, Roger played football at Pittsburg State.
He planned many family vacations that deepened family connections. His goal was to ensure everyone was happy. His joyful spirit shone through in all he did. Roger was incredibly considerate, always making those around him feel special. He was a pillar of strength and compassion for his family and friends, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Mary's. A funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 am. A private burial will be held in Kansas City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mary’s or Wounded Warriors. Rest in peace, Roger. Your love will remain in our hearts forever.
