(From Daniel Funeral Home)Virginia Ruth Walters, age 74, of Jasper, Missouri, passed away October 23, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Virginia was born on November 22, 1949, to Allen and Katherine (Garriques) Sherrel. Virginia graduated from Carthage High School in the class of 1967. On April 3, 1976, Virginia married David Walters at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri.
Virginia worked as a secretary for the Springfield, Missouri school system and retired in 2002. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved bird hunting with her husband David.
Survivors include her husband, David; a son, Richard (Natalie) Walters; two daughters, Sarah (Robert) Schroeder and Susan Rice (Mike) Watkins; seven grandchildren, Patrick Rice, Ethan Schroeder, Grant Walters, Sam Watkins, Luke Walters, Ava Walters and Mary Watkins; two twin brothers, John (Darlene) Sherrel and Jim (Mary) Sherrel; along with numerous great nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law, Scott Rice.
A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco, Arkansas.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2024, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, Missouri.

Jennie was such a nice lady. I enjoyed talking to her when she came into the store that I work at. She was always so friendly and very fun to talk to. I will miss our conversation.
