(From Clark Funeral Home)Mona Jean Caywood, a cherished member of the Neosho community, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 99. Born in Newton County, Missouri, on July 31, 1925, Mona graduated from Neosho High School in 1941. On July 23, 1944, she married the love of her life, Earnest Eugene "Shorty" Caywood, and they shared many wonderful years together.
Mona dedicated her professional life to working as a secretary for Teledyne, where she served until her retirement in 1991. Beyond her career, Mona was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Neosho, Missouri, and found joy in contributing to numerous civic organizations, giving back to the community she loved so dearly.
She is survived by her two daughters, Diane Buxton and Lynne Hailey. She also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren, Kim O’Malley, Steve Hailey, and Julie Miller, as well as six great-grandchildren, Hailey O’Malley, Sean O’Malley, Kevin O’Malley, Noelani Hailey, Blake Miller, and Lauren Miller. Mona was preceded in death by her parents, Ozro and Ida Violet Maness, and her husband, Shorty.
A private family graveside service will be held to honor her life and legacy.
Mona’s dedication to her family, her faith, and her community will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
