(From Clark Funeral Home)Robert L. Gillespie, age 91, of Diamond, Missouri passed away October 30, 2024, at Maple Tree Terrace Assisted Living in Carthage, Missouri.
Bob was born on February 19, 1933 in Muscotah, Kansas, the son of Ray and Lena (Scott) Gillespie. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1971 retiring as a petty officer, first class.
Bob married Marguarite Greninger on January 25, 1958. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2003. Bob married Maxine Kellison Morgan on December 10, 2003. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2019.
Bob's life was forever changed when he was saved by Jesus Christ in 1968. He loved to pray for the sick and tell everyone about Jesus. Bob had attended Silver Moon Full Gospel Church for many years, and for the past four years, had been a member of First Baptist Church of Diamond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and stepson George Kellison. He is survived by his brother Ronnie (June) Gillespie, stepdaughters Nannette (Robert) Powell, Annette (Stan) Henderson, step son, Raymond (Jillian) Kellison, nieces Pat Thurman and Shirley Plummer, and many other nieces and nephews. Uncle Bob was deeply loved by the Neal and Pat Thurman family, and he (along with his famous macaroni and cheese) will be missed at family reunions.
Services will be at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, Missouri on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 11 am, led by Tivis Boothe, and Phil Barber. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 10 am. Interment will follow at the Diamond Cemetery in Diamond, Missouri with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors, in care of Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, Missouri 64850.
